Thinking Of You Week: A Small Card, A Big Impact

A pale blue banner with colourful rainbows, clouds and a yellow sun. Text reads 'Thinking of you week. Send a card, deliver a smile'.

Thinking of You Week is a lovely reminder of something simple, powerful, and easy to forget in our busy lives: how much it means to be remembered.

Running from 15th to 21st September, it’s all about spreading kindness by sending a card – whether for a birthday, a special occasion, a thank-you or a just because.

It’s a national campaign, started by the Greeting Card Association (GCA), that encourages us to reach out, reconnect, and show people that they matter. And honestly? We think it’s one of the most beautiful weeks of the year.

Why it matters?

We all know how good it feels to get something in the post that isn’t a bill. A little envelope. A handwritten message. A moment of surprise on an otherwise ordinary day.

That’s what Thinking of You Week is all about:

  • Letting a friend know they’re not alone.
  • Telling someone you admire them.
  • Checking in on a neighbour.
  • Sending love, support, or simply a smile.

It doesn’t take long, but it lasts. People keep cards on shelves, pin them to fridges, and tuck them into memory boxes. They’re little tokens of care and connection that stick around, long after the moment has passed.

Why we love it and why we are promoting it

As a not-for-profit retailer, cards are kind of our thing but more than that, connection is our thing.

When you choose to send one of our cards during Thinking of You Week, you’re not just making someone’s day you’re also helping to support some truly incredible causes. From health charities and animal welfare to children’s services, hospice, mental health or something else, your card does double the good.

Who could use a card this week?

You don’t need a reason to send a card, everyone deserves a card!

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Someone going through a tough time
  • A teacher, carer or someone else who has made a difference
  • A friend who’s drifted out of touch
  • A new neighbour
  • A child away at College or University
  • Yourself – yes, really!

Make your moments matter

This Thinking of You Week, why not reach out to those around you by sending a card.

You’ll be surprised how much it means. And who knows? You might just start a chain reaction of kindness.

Royal Mail is also supporting the campaign with a special postmark that will feature on all stamped mail during Thinking of You Week so make sure you look out for that too!
